Nascar racing

The 2008 NASCAR season grinds to a close as Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards battle through the final races. The question that many have in mind is NASCAR could study how different in 2009 and beyond.
The time between the seasons always brings changes. From drivers to switch to new Toyota teams to enter the arena, the offseason is a time for the end of an article and start new ones. 2009, however, offers the possibility to be a year very different indeed.
In simple terms, NASCAR is facing a brutal economic situation. Although participation many races is down, the most immediate problem has to do with the viability of manufacturers. The main issue is that manufacturers are still viable and support teams?
Make no mistake, manufacturers are in serious difficulty. Sales figures for everyone from Ford to Toyota are ugly. Drops of 30 percent or more are now normal. It is estimated that up to 40 percent of all motor vehicle dealers in the United States may fail. General Motors and Chrysler have discussed merging, but they are in poor condition as they have asked the government for a ten billion dollar loan make it a reality.
General Motors is a company experiencing difficulties. For the past two years, he graduated along the fine line of having to file bankruptcy. Ten years ago, the idea of GM bankruptcy would have been laughable, but things have radically changed. GM has responded by closing plants and selling assets as fast as he can. Motionless, the future is drawing to say the least.
Ford is in much better shape. It stocks were recently hit rock bottom during an unprecedented $ 2 per share. The sales figures for the company are so bad, they are simply difficult to digest. However, Ford is in better shape than GM since the company has accumulated many reservations liquidity. That cash only last so long, however, and Ford seems to be hoarding their money in anticipation of bad things years come.
The inclusion of Toyota in NASCAR has been a controversial decision. The fear of many is Toyota would throw so much money around it that would dominate the race. Well, Toyota is suffering as much as Ford and GM when it comes to car sales. Throw in the fact that the company spends 400 million dollars a year in Formula One and it is not difficult to see how the powers that be at Toyota must be reconsidering their commitment the race. Does the company leave NASCAR? No, it is more likely that the company will quit Formula One That said, Toyota is not about to throw a lot of money to his team, when vehicle sales are in the tank.
So what does this mean for NASCAR in 2009? Well, things are changing rapidly in the economy. If any of the manufacturers, including GM, are forced into bankruptcy, teams to use these cars will be in big trouble. Even without the threat of bankruptcy, some manufacturers will certainly look closely at how they spend in NASCAR and if they can continue to spend money. Otherwise, we could see the disappearance of certain iconic brands of NASCAR and a reorganization of teams in general.
