Obviously there are costs after the transfer. Gordon Brown is striking at the door and it's a mystery how long the Treasury will allow these transfers abroad. But once they are off they will not be held in the United Kingdom so that the government will not be able to withdraw your funds retrospectively. Not all benefit pensions in the United Kingdom from a QROPS though. There are some excellent schemes that provide final salary guarantees that some may be better in the United Kingdom. The best thing to do is talk to a qualified local financial advisor.
